Leon County Sheriff
Warrants & Civil Division
Per Florida Statute 48.031, service of law enforcement officers or any federal, state or municipal employee may not be accepted if the appearance date is less than five days from the date of service. All relevant agencies in Leon County strictly abide by this rule.
We do not forward civil process to other counties or agencies. Civil process that needs to be served outside of Leon County should be sent directly to the appropriate agency.
Please be aware that the volume of process handled by this office does not allow us to “hold” paperwork for any reason. Once we receive your process, we will attempt service. Most process received by this office is served within 7 to 10 business days.
While we will make every attempt to ensure that your paperwork is correct, it is your responsibility to ensure that everything is in order. Incorrect paperwork, missing copies, and failure to include the service fee are the most common errors, and will result in your paperwork being returned to you. As this can result in costly delays in the court process, please ensure that your paperwork is correct.
